Cristiano Ronaldo turned on the style to score a hattrick in Portugal’s 5-1 win against Faroe Islands, crossing Pele for number of international goals scored.

Cristiano Ronaldo gave a glimpse of what Real Madrid have been missing in the starting matches of the season. The Portuguese, who has been handed a 5-match ban on club level, was firing on all cylinders on Thursday. Ronaldo scored a hattrick as Portugal swept aside minnows Faroe Islands by a scoreline of 5-1.

While there were many highlights in the match, Ronaldo’s hattrick stood out as Real madrid fans and fans of the player, in general, hailed his achievements and statistics.

Fans poured out tweets in appreciation of the Portuguese’s talent.

There were still some trolls out and about on social media.

There were words of appreciation for City man Bernardo Silva, who set Ronaldo up for his first goal – an overhead kick. William Carvalho, who also got in on the action, received some praise on Twitter.
