Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has predicted that Chelsea could look to sell Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer under certain conditions.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Chelsea will look to cash in on Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson if they turn into high-value assets for them. The Arsenal icon expects the Blues to cash in on the former La Liga striker if he manages to score 25 goals in the season. Furthermore, he believes that Palmer will be a sellable asset for Chelsea as well if he develops into a £100 million player.
He said via GMS, “If Nicolas Jackson scores 25 goals next season, they will sell him. That’s their whole idea of signing these players. If Cole Palmer keeps doing what he’s doing and becomes a £100million player, they will sell him. That’s how it works.”
Merson believes that it is a part of the Chelsea model under their new ownership and they will look to cash in on their assets whenever possible. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the country and they are expected to fight for major trophies every year. If they sell their best players, it will not go down well with the fans.

Chelsea must hold onto their players if they want to win major trophies regularly. They will have to maintain the ambition they had under former owner Roman Abramovich if they want to be a part of the European elite once again.
While Jackson has not been able to live up to the expectations since the move to Stamford Bridge, Palmer has been exceptional for Chelsea so far. The former Manchester City attacker was exceptional for the Blues last season and he scored 27 goals and picked up 15 assists in all competitions. The England international carried Chelsea attack all by himself, and there is no doubt that he has attributes to develop into a world class player.
Chelsea will be hoping to push for trophies this season and they will look to get back into the UEFA Champions League as well. They will need players like Palmer to step up and perform consistently. It remains to be seen whether the youngster can build on his performance from last season and guide his side to a top four finish.
