N’Golo Kante hopeful of long-term Chelsea future

N’Golo Kante hopes to carry on playing for Chelsea into the future as the midfielder aims to win more titles at Stamford Bridge.

N’Golo Kante has reiterated his desire to stay at Chelsea amid speculation over his long-term future at the club. The midfielder has achieved immense success with the Blues since his arrival in the summer of 2016, winning every trophy possible at club level with the exception of the League Cup.

Kante has a contract with Chelsea until 2023, and there have been rumours about a new deal being offered in the summer. If the two parties cannot agree on an extension, PSG are waiting in the wings to sign the French midfielder. The Ligue 1 giants will certainly present him with a lucrative offer and losing a great player like Kante could be a blow for the Blues.

Kante helped Chelsea win the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup in the space of ten months. He has also won the Premier League, Europa League and the FA Cup with the Blues since arriving in 2016.

The biggest problem in extending Kante’s contract would be Chelsea’s current policy with players over 30. The Blues are inclined to only offer a 12-month extension without a pay rise, with some sections calling for the policy to be relaxed for the Frenchman.

For the same reasons, the future of Kante’s midfield partner at the club, Jorginho, has also come into question, although the club are confident of keeping the pair at Stamford Bridge beyond next season.

Kante spoke to Sky Sports in a recent interview and reiterated his desire to stay at the club and continue to achieve success. Kante said, “Since I came here I’ve spent many great seasons, with the team, the managers and the fans. I hope we can carry on like this, keep winning, and that’s the way I see the future.”

The midfielder has a crucial role to play in the future of Chelsea, especially with everything that is going on around Stamford Bridge currently. He is one of the senior players in Thomas Tuchel’s setup and Chelsea should do everything in their power to keep hold of him and extend his contract.
