Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo is open to the idea of joining Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester City.
Murillo who had an impressive season with Nottingham Forest last season has talked about his future on Benja Me Mucho podcast. He was quite open about his future plans and did admit that he would love to join Premier League title contenders Manchester City, Arsenal or Liverpool.
The 22-year-old centre-back made the move from Corinthians to Nottingham last summer. In his debut season in the English top flight, Murillo was involved in 36 matches and he has managed to impress one and all with his consistent performances. He has been a rock at the back and things haven’t gone unnoticed.
Murillo to leave Nottingham?
There are multiple top clubs keen on his signature and they could make a move this summer. He still has four years left on his deal and the Tricky Trees won’t let him leave on the cheap. They will reportedly look for a fee of around £50 million for the Corinthians academy graduate.
While talking about his future ambitions, Murillo said via The Standard: “I know there was a buzz of interest. So, I don’t know exactly how much the [asking price] amount is, but I know there was interest.
“I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I thought: ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I’ll go to a big club’. I had that in my head.”
“I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad,”
“There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.
“We don’t know anything for certain, the window opened last month so I’m going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not so there’s a lot of things to happen still but I’m relaxed.”
While the young centre-back did confirm that Chelsea are keen on his signature, the price tag is a major roadblock for them. They are exploring a part-exchange deal in an attempt to lower the asking price which leaves the door open for other clubs.
Murillo interested in joining City, Arsenal or Liverpool
Murillo admitted that he always wanted to play in the Premier League. While joining Nottingham he had the thought of doing well for them and making the move to a bigger club.
He would love to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City but feels it will be difficult for him to get regular game time there given the amount of competition for places. He is also open to a move to title contenders Arsenal as well as Liverpool.
While City don’t really need another centre-back as they already have enough depth, they are always on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long run and Murillo could be of great use for them.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool do need to add more quality to their backline and they are on the lookout for someone who can help their cause. The 22-year-old could be a great fit for them having already proved himself in England.
