Mason Mount, Reece James comment on Chelsea contract situations

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig: Preview and Prediction.

Chelsea stars Reece James and Mason Mount have commented on their respective contract situations with the west London club.

Chelsea’s Reece James and Mason Mount have recently opened up on their futures with the west London club. Both the players are reportedly in talks over extensions to their respective contracts with the Blues, and the Premier League heavyweights are eager to tie them down to longer deals to keep potential suitors at bay.

James, riding on his solid displays for Chelsea in the last few seasons, has been attracting interest from Real Madrid. He still has three years left on his contract with Chelsea, but the west London club are eager to have him sign an extension.

But the 22-year-old’s recent comments will be reassuring to Chelsea fans. The England international has stressed that he sees his future at Stamford Bridge, having risen through the ranks at the Premier League club and supported them from his childhood.

“I’d like to think [my future is at Stamford Bridge]. I grew up as a Chelsea fan and you know I made my name playing for Chelsea, the club I’ve always supported but I don’t see why anything would change. I play for Chelsea now and I’m enjoying it,” James told BBC Sport when asked about a possible Real Madrid move.

Mount, on the other hand, has just two years remaining on his contract with Chelsea, and the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City have been monitoring his situation. But the English attacking midfielder is happy at Stamford Bridge and hopes that contract extension talks will begin soon.

“I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m very, very happy here. Those talks will hopefully be starting soon,” the 23-year-old told The Athletic.

Both England internationals are currently with the Chelsea squad on their pre-season tour to the United States of America. The west Londoners will start their pre-season campaign against Club America on Sunday, July 17. Chelsea will then face Charlotte FC, Arsenal and Udinese, respectively, before starting their 2022/23 Premier League campaign against Everton on August 6.
