Luke Chadwick has urged his former club Manchester United to snap up Leicester City’s midfield enforcer Wilfred Ndidi.

During an interview with Caught Offside, Luke Chadwick offered his thoughts on Manchester United’s midfield problems. The former Man United ace voiced his admiration for Leicester City starlet Wilfred Ndidi, suggesting him as an ideal solution to the club’s midfield issue.

Manchester United’s woes in the middle of the park have already been well-documented. The club lacks a proper and reliable number six, with neither Fred nor Scott McTominay being able to fill in properly while Nemanja Matic is in the final phase of his career.

Chadwick believes that one player that could potentially solve United’s issues in the middle of the park is Wilfred Ndidi. During his interview with Caught Offside, the 40-year-old football pundit not only hailed the Leicester City man but also suggested him as an ideal addition for the Red Devils.

“Ndidi is a bit of a shining light at Leicester, he does that defensive midfield job really well, covers a lot of ground, uses the ball really effectively,” Chadwick told CaughtOffside. “He’s not that spectacular in his style but he’s a good passer on the ball.”

Formerly of KRC Genk, Ndidi has notched up almost 200 appearances for Leicester City since joining the club in January 2017. He has been a vital part of Brendan Rodgers’ team that has seemingly announced itself as one of the strongest teams in England.

“I think it’s a bit harsh to compare him to Fred, who’s done some great things at Manchester United but some indifferent ones as well. But you put Fred in a Leicester or West Ham team, somewhere where the expectations aren’t as high, then I think he could look like a top player who you’d link with the top clubs like United, City or Chelsea,” Chadwick added.

The 40-year-old went on to talk more about Man United’s problems in midfield before suggesting Ndidi as an ideal solution. “There’s been a lot of attention on that position for United and you do imagine a signing will happen at some stage, if not in January then at the end of the season.

“Ndidi certainly fits the bill and I’m sure if the finances are there then he’d be a target. Leicester are more of a selling team, as we’ve seen the likes of Kante and Mahrez who’ve gone on to bigger clubs. Ndidi certainly seems like one to keep an eye on. He’s made a very promising start to his Premier League career and I’m sure he’s someone United will have been keeping tabs on,” he added.

Unfortunately for Manchester United fans, though, the club has not been linked with a move for Wilfred Ndidi as of yet. But it is apparent that the Red Devils are in the market for a new midfielder in January, with Ndidi’s teammate Youri Tielemans being a potential transfer target.
