Manchester United backed to sign Serge Gnabry by Kevin Campbell

Kevin Campbell has backed Manchester United to go out and capture the signing of Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry in the summer.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has tipped Manchester United to make a move for Bayern Munich superstar Serge Gnabry, stating that the winger would be an asset for any team.

Gnabry has been with Bayern Munich since 2017 after signing from fellow Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen. The winger spent a year out on loan at TSG Hoffenheim before being integrated into the first-team setup at the Allianz Arena, and he has not looked back since.

Gnabry has become one of the most potent wide attackers in Europe, tasting plenty of success with the Bavarian giants. At the same time, he has become an integral part of the German national team setup as well.

But with the 26-year-old’s contract set to expire in a little over a year, speculations over his future have been starting to mount. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool are believed to be tracking Gnabry, while there is interest from another elite club in Manchester United.

And, Campbell, who made over 200 appearances for Arsenal, has backed Manchester United to make a play for Gnabry’s signing, claiming that the ex-Gunners prospect is now a world-class player.

“Now he’s a top, top player. He’s won everything he possibly can at Bayern Munich. He has proven himself at the top level. Let’s be honest, he is a world-class player who would be an asset to any team in the world. That’s why it doesn’t surprise me that Man United are looking at him,” he said.

“I’m sure Ralf Rangnick knows a lot about him from his time in Germany. Gnabry is a productive player and a very productive player at that. He gets both goals and assists. That could be a move that works for United in the summer because he is a very dangerous player.”

Last summer, Manchester United strengthened their wide attacking department by shelling out a large sum of money to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. The England international, however, is yet to explode at Old Trafford. At the same time, Mason Greenwood has been suspended indefinitely. It could lead to the Red Devils bringing in another attacker in the summer transfer window.

Gnabry is a player with vast experience, while his peak years are still ahead of him. Coupled with his knowledge of English football from his time at Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion, the Bayern Munich winger can be a top signing for the Mancunian outfit. However, with a plethora of clubs keen, signing the 26-year-old will be anything but straightforward.
