Manchester City confirm qualification to the knockout stages with 1-1 draw against Borussia Monchengladbach [Best Tweets]

Manchester City secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League as they came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw against Borussia Monchengladbach.

City failed to perform as they did against Barcelona earlier this month, and both sides had a man sent off in a game that failed to really take off. But David Silva’s equaliser ensured their progress from Group C.

Raffael got the City fans nervous with a superb strike midway through the first half at a lively Borussia-Park but Silva managed to grab an equaliser just before half time.

Lars Stindl and Fernandinho were both sent off for second bookable offences early in the second half, and the game completely stagnated from thereon with City holding on for a draw, and securing qualification to the knockout stages.

Football fans took to Twitter to have their say on the game, with Sergio Aguero’s performance being widely frowned upon :

Fernandinho’s sending off had all the City fans riled up :

But David Silva scored just before half time to level the scores, and City fans were pleased, thanking the player after he took to Twitter to celebrate :
