He said: “They told me about such a possibility that appeared in public. Later I read about it myself. No one called me from England. I am under contract to Real Sociedad, where I am doing well, nice, where I have fit in perfectly. Have the clubs talked? I don’t know, and the topic doesn’t bother me. There have been headlines like that before, and there will be again.”

However, he revealed that Manchester United are giants in the world of football and he is pleased that his name is associated with them.

He added: “United is a global giant, a respected giant in the world of football. Of course I like having my name associated with the Red Devils, but I say that it won’t knock me out of my shoes. I’m firmly on the ground”.

Can Man United get the deal done?

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United act on their interest and submit an offer for him in the coming months. The 22-year-old midfielder is highly rated in La Liga and he has the technical attributes to do well in the Premier League as well. He could prove to be a long-term acquisition for Manchester United.

The Croatian has the tools to develop into an important player for the English club with the right guidance. The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be quite exciting for him, and it would be a major step in his career.

Manchester United have a proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players and they could help the 22-year-old fulfil his tremendous potential. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can get the deal across the line.
