Former Manchester United and Everton striker Louis Saha believes Chelsea would be the perfect club for Richarlison.
Chelsea were interested in signing Richarlison when the Brazilian was still plying his trade for Fluminense. However, their interest did not materialise into a deal as he ended up joining Watford instead in 2017.
The 24-year-old did not take long to settle down in England, scoring five and assisting as many goals in his first Premier League season. Everton were quick to snap him up, signing him in 2018.
The Brazilian international was an instant hit at Everton, scoring 14 goals for the Toffees across competitions. He has maintained his level of performance despite the Merseyside club’s recent struggles. In 145 appearances for the club across competitions, Richarlison has scored 49 goals and provided 13 assists.
This season, even though Everton are currently languishing at the 17th spot, Richarlison has continued to chip in with goals and assists. He has scored seven goals across competitions for them so far. And Saha believes that the Brazilian would be a great fit at Chelsea.
“Chelsea would be a great fit for Richarlison, all top sides will be monitoring his situation. I don’t see any sides that wouldn’t have him. He’s a special player and no-one plays the way he plays.”
“He’s always a danger and I can see any side from the top, Chelsea or Liverpool, wait not Liverpool! Obviously joking. For sure a team in the Premier League will be looking, but I hope Everton manage to keep that kind of player because he’s the star,” Saha told Boyle Sports, as quoted by Tribal Football.
While signing a forward is not high on Chelsea’s priority list, they could be forced to look for options if one, or both, of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner end up leaving the club this summer. Both their strikers have struggled for goals in the ongoing season and could look for greener pastures if things don’t improve.
Whether the Blues take Saha’s advice seriously and sign the in-demand Everton forward if the opportunity arrives remains to be seen. But as Saha said, several big clubs are monitoring Richarlison’s situation, meaning the Brazilian should be a popular figure in the market in the summer.
