Liverpool keeper Adrian San Miguel wants summer exit

Liverpool shot-stopper Adrian San Miguel wants to make a return to Spain in the upcoming transfer window.

Adrian San Miguel, Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper wants to return to La Liga after 11 years in the Premier League. He is looking to part ways with the Reds after five long years and is on the lookout for an interesting project in Spain.

The Spanish shot-stopper was a part of the Real Betis youth ranks since he was 10. He came up the ranks and was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2012. After just one season with his childhood club, he made a move to England where joined West Ham United.

After making a name for himself while playing for the Hammers, the 37-year-old made the move to Liverpool in the summer of 2019. Over the last five years, he has only been involved in 26 matches for the Merseyside club and is yet to make an appearance this term with just days left in the season.

He did pen down a one-year extension last summer but with his contract once again expiring, the Liverpool goalkeeper wants to return to his homeland, he said via Muchodeporte, “I would like to return to LaLiga after 11 seasons in the Premier. It would be closing a cycle. I am still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37. You already know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, have not had very serious injuries. serious lately and in the end you are fine, daily training gives you that intensity that in the end makes you compete.

I think Adrián is left for a while and it is true that I would like to return to the Spanish LaLiga. It has to be a nice project, interesting… I haven’t sat down with Liverpool yet either. I don’t rule out that we could have a pending conversation, but it is true that we will be looking out of the corner of our eye to see what happens in the LaLiga goals,”

Adrian wants to return to La Liga

Adrian is keen on making a return to the Spanish top flight and is looking for a project where he could get regular first-team action. Despite being 37, he feels that he still has a few years left in him and wants to make the best of it.

When he parted ways with Betis back in 2013, the Liverpool shot-stopper did make it clear that it was one of the most difficult decisions of his career. With Adrian now seeking a return to Spain and on the lookout for the perfect opportunity, it will be interesting to see if his childhood club could once again open the door for him.

Betis are all set to undergo a change in goal as Claudio Bravo is all set to part ways in the summer. With Bravo leaving, Rui Silva is expected to take over as their new number-one and Fran Vieites will serve as his backup.

While he has talked about his desire to return to Spain, Adrian did make it clear that he hasn’t discussed his future with the Merseyside club yet, keeping the doors open for a potential renewal.
