Jurgen Klopp rules out more Liverpool incomings this summer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given an update on the club’s transfer plans stating that there are unlikely to be any more incomings.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out the possibility of signing more players in the ongoing transfer window unless there are any serious injuries or departures from the club.

Liverpool got their business done very early in the transfer window as they brought in Fabio Carvalho from Fulham after narrowly missing out on his signing in January. It was followed by the club-record acquisition of Darwin Nunez from SL Benfica in a deal worth £85 million. The Merseyside giants also added a new right-back to their roster by signing Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen, spending around £6.5 million.

There have been several outgoings from Liverpool this summer, with the Reds bidding goodbye to Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino while Neco Williams and Ben White have also departed permanently. There have been some loan exits from Anfield as well.

And Klopp has now claimed that there will be no more incomings at Anfield this summer, as he has the squad he needs. The German tactician has thus ruled out any more new signings unless there are any complications due to injuries or late exits. “Unless we have injuries or player sales no, we have our squad. Hopefully, there won’t be any so Liverpool supporters can focus on other things,” Klopp said.

When pressed further on the changes of players leaving Liverpool, Klopp added: “I don’t talk about these things you know that. Look at the results, not the process – don’t forget!”

There have been speculations that Liverpool might be looking to add another midfielder to their roster this summer. A move for Sporting CP’s Portuguese talent Matheus Nunes has been mooted heavily, especially with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future far from certain.

However, judging by Klopp’s words, Liverpool might not be planning to go after the Portuguese midfielder. Instead, the Reds could wait until next summer to sign their priority transfer target, Jude Bellingham, from Borussia Dortmund. For now, though, Liverpool could be done for the ongoing transfer window.
