Jorginho ready to welcome ‘Champion of Italy’ Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku is inches away from a return to Chelsea, and star midfielder Jorginho is ready to welcome the ‘Champion of Italy’ back to the club.

Chelsea’s hard search for a top-rated striker seems to have come to a successful end, with Romelu Lukaku set to join in the coming days. It will mark the return of the Belgian to the club after failing to make a mark during his first spell. During that period, the Belgian managed 15 appearances for the Blues without scoring.

Spells at Everton and Manchester United propelled the striker to new heights, who took his game to the next level at Inter Milan. The Italian champions paid a hefty fee to Man United two years ago, and the striker won them the Serie A last term.

However, financial struggles have forced Inter to accept a mammoth £98 million offer from Chelsea to sanction a move. They rejected an £85 million offer earlier from the Champions League holders, although now things have cleared up with an agreement.

Chelsea always wanted to acquire the best of talent to improve their Europe conquering team. After failing to agree on a move for Erling Haaland, the Blues switched their attention towards the Belgian, while many believe they are paying a high price for a 28-year-old professional. Even Blues legend Gianfranco Zola questioned the move recently.

However, one current star who seems to be happy with the move is Jorginho. The Italian midfielder is coming into the new season on the back of an impressive summer, winning the UEFA Euro 2020 by beating England in the Final. The Chelsea midfielder seemed delighted with the acquisition of Lukaku and had a few words of praise.

Goal.com published some quotes from Jorginho interview with TNT Sports. The midfielder said, “A player like Lukaku, who has been enjoying great seasons and was a champion in Italy, for sure is a player who would contribute a lot. Anyone who comes to contribute would be worth it. Let’s see what happens next.”

With the addition of Lukaku, Chelsea could become an even bigger force to reckon with next term. After tasting European success, Thomas Tuchel would be gunning to win the Premier League next term. He could pair the Belgian alongside Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to form a lethal front-three.

The Chelsea squad looked dangerous even without Lukaku, and now he makes them contenders on all fronts. Can this be the all-conquering Blues side fans have been waiting for years?
