James Maddison joined Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, and he has been outstanding for the North London club so far. The Englishman has been one of the top performers for Tottenham this season, and Defoe believes that he has been a better signing than the likes of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Liverpool playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai.

He then added via Optus Sport, “What is pleasing is the performances, when you watch the games it’s exciting. You mention Bissouma and obviously Maddison has come in, for me, he has been the best signing of the summer, I think once he gets on the ball, he’s the trigger for players to come alive now, the manager has done an amazing job.”

Tottenham have been in fine form this season, and they could easily challenge for the league title if they continue to perform at this level. James Maddison is undoubtedly one of the key players at the club, and his creativity in the final third has proven to be invaluable.

The 26-year-old midfielder has shown that he can step up in the big games as well. His performance in the North London derby last month was commendable, and he handled the pressure of playing in a game of such magnitude for the first time in his career with ease.

There is no doubt that he is one of the best players in the league right now, and it remains to be seen whether he can build on his impressive thought to life at Tottenham and continue to perform at a high level.

As far as Declan Rice and Dominik Szoboszlai are concerned, they have been quite impressive for Arsenal and Liverpool, respectively, as well. It is hard to judge the individual impacts of all three players. But there is no doubt that all of them have been impressive acquisitions for their respective clubs.

While Rice has added defensive steel and compactness to the Arsenal midfield, Szoboszlai has been the all-action central midfielder Liverpool have been missing since the departure of Steven Gerrard. It will be interesting to see which of these midfielders can help their side win a trophy this season and finish the season strongly.
