Janusz Michallik ranked Son Heung-min ahead of Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland when asked to name his five best players in the Premier League.

The Premier League has started in sensational style, and after seven rounds of fixtures, the race at the top is a tight one. Tottenham have had a fantastic start to the season amid the exploits of Son Heung-min and James Maddison. And after the latest matchday, they remain one of the two teams unbeaten in the league.

Similarly, Arsenal are the other side without a loss after Manchester City and Liverpool both lost their respective fixtures. The latter’s defeat caused a stir after a massive error from VAR in that clash, with the issue still rumbling on.

Meanwhile, Spurs have silently shown their mettle to rise to second and remain level on points with Arsenal. One of the reasons for their success under Ange Postecoglou has come through his decision to play Son Heung-min as his designated centre-forward.

The Tottenham talisman, who cost Spurs just £22 million, has scored six times in seven games in the Premier League and remains closely behind top scorer Erling Haaland in the scoring charts. There are others in the mix, but these two seem to have set the race on fire.

Mohamed Salah has also had a fantastic start to the season with four goals and as many assists in seven games. The Egyptian continues to remain the star man at Liverpool and has shown how important he is for Jurgen Klopp’s system.

Pundit Janusz Michallik has now given his verdict on who the best players in the Premier League are. He named his top five in the division on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel and named the Tottenham talisman ahead of Salah and Haaland.

Michallik said, “At number three I put Heung-Min Son, I love what he’s done. He’s doing what I thought he would do after that season where he finished top of the scoring charts with Mo Salah. In my opinion, that year he was the best player in the Premier League. I knew he hadn’t lost it and I’m happy he’s proven me right here,”

Michallik went on to name Rodri and Martin Odegaard as the top two on his list, and it makes complete sense how the season has transpired. His choice of Son ahead of Haaland and Salah may have some credibility in terms of the impact the player has had on the team.
