Jamie Carragher pans Dominik Szoboszlai after Liverpool beat Manchester United

Liverpool picked up a memorable 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Jamie Carragher has criticised Dominik Szoboszlai.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has slammed 23-year-old midfield mainstay Dominik Szoboszlai for his unprofessional performance against Manchester United.

The Hungarian playmaker had an impressive game overall, but he missed a glorious opportunity to increase Liverpool’s advantage. With the goal at his mercy, Szoboszlai opted to take extra touches instead of pulling the trigger at the right moment.

Carragher felt that the midfielder was unprofessional and cocky in that situation. If Manchester United had scored a goal in that moment, they could have increased the tempo and caused problems for the visitors.

The Liverpool legend believed that Szoboszlai should have scored the goal and put the result beyond any doubt. Carragher also suggested that the Hungarian’s teammates should have been harsh with him after he missed the opportunity to increase their advantage.

He said (h/t Mirror), “What is he doing? Is he trying to be cocky? If United get one back the crowd gets up, we saw yesterday what happened to Everton. That’s ridiculous that from Szoboszlai. That’s just ridiculous, it’s unprofessional.”

Arne Slot has impressed in the Premier League so far

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been exceptional in the Premier League so far, and they have won all three matches with the clean sheet. Newly appointed manager Arne Slot seems to be adapting to the Premier League really well, and Liverpool will hope to push for major trophies this season.

The win over Manchester United will give them immense confidence heading into the international break, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can regroup and come back stronger later this month. They will take on Nottingham Forest on September 14, and Liverpool will look to build on their outstanding start to the season and build some momentum before the business end of the season kicks in.

As for Szoboszlai, the 23-year-old is an exceptional talent who has impressed since his arrival in the Premier League. He will be fully aware of his mistake against Manchester United and he will look to make amends in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag will be very disappointed with the performance of his players this past weekend. Manchester United were completely outplayed in their own backyard, and the fans will demand a strong reaction now. However, the Dutchman has come in for criticism as well.
