Liverpool have been linked with the move for PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe in recent months, and Ibrahima Konate has commented on it.

Kylian Mbappe will be on the move during the summer transfer window, and he is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. He has already informed PSG that he will not sign any contract with them, and Real Madrid are reportedly front-runners to secure his services.

Regarding his links with Liverpool, his compatriot and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has now shared his thoughts. The 24-year-old defender laughed off claims that Liverpool could look to sign the player in the coming months.

He said via talkSPORT, “In all honesty do you really think he’s going to come to Liverpool? We don’t think about him, we all know where he’s going to go.”

Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, and he is likely to command massive wages. It is fair to assume that most clubs in the world will not be able to afford his contract. Even though he will be available on a free transfer, the 2018 World Cup winner is simply out of reach for Liverpool. The Premier League giants will not want to break their wage structure to accommodate Mbappe.

The French international has 32 goals across all competitions this season, and there is no doubt that he could be an impressive acquisition for any club in the world. But Liverpool are unlikely to be able to pay well over the odds for him.

The player has been linked with Real Madrid for months now, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can thrash out and agreement eventually. Real Madrid need to improve their attacking options after the departure of Karim Benzema, and Mbappe should prove to be an exceptional addition.

Mbappe will want to win major trophies with Real Madrid

The 25-year-old is already operating at a world class level, and he has all the tools to develop into the next superstar of the game. Mbappe has won several domestic trophies with PSG but is yet to win the Champions league title. He will feel that a move to Real Madrid could help him win the coveted prize in club football.

As for Liverpool, they could certainly use a dynamic forward like Mbappe especially if Mohamed Salah decides to leave the club at the end of the season. It remains to be seen whether they can replace the Egyptian international adequately.
