Chelsea are off to a fine start in the Premier League this season as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.
The Blues were in control of the game from start to finish, growing into the game with each passing minute. Maurizio Sarri’s men had to bide their time, but their patience was rewarded with the opening goal by N’Golo Kante, before Jorginho doubled the lead from the penalty spot to score his first goal for Chelsea.
Huddersfield did come close when Steve Mounie headed against the upright. But, the hosts’ hopes were dashed when Pedro rounded off the win from close range. The spotlight though, fell on Jorginho, with fans also pointing towards a budding partnership between him and Kante in the Chelsea midfield.

Chelsea – Huddersfield thoughts:
– Kanté & Jorginho will be special
– Hazard & Sarri = Unfair
– Willian & Pedro both good
– Morata positive but not productive
– Barkley needs to attack
– Defenders all solid but have work to do
– Huddersfield is poor
– This will be fun…— Alex Goldberg (@AlexGoldberg_) August 11, 2018

Kante and Jorginho on the score sheet, but I thought our midfield didn’t have enough goals.

Kante doesn’t have to babysit Bakayoko anymore. Jorginho & Kovacic next to him in midfield.. tears in my eyes.

These two are going to be fantastic duo @nglkante & Jorginho ? #CFC pic.twitter.com/eQfa60qQAW

But, a lot of the adulation went towards Maurizio Sarri, whose tenure started with a bang.
3 good reasons:
1) #Chelsea 63% ball possession
2) #Jorginho perfect playmaker
3) #Kante the man on fire
It’s a long way, but it’s a very good first step for #Sarri #HUDCHE 0-3 #CFC @SkySport pic.twitter.com/wMFWcVpwzF

Under Conte the pivot left our half, under Sarri they’ve both scored in the first game.
Sarri Ball.

Sarri said we sold Courtois for good money and got Kovacic, a young player who is ready to explode.
I like the sound of that. #cfc

Listening to Sarri saying all the right things is strange after all the crap we’ve listened to in the last 5 seasons.

We haven’t gotten out of 1st gear the entire game and we’re 3-0 up what is this sorcery from Sarri

And Sarriball is underway…
It’s still very much a work in progress and it will take a few months yet before the team fully understand Sarri’s tactics, but the early signs are very promising.
Eden Hazard… WOW ???
Great game, onto the next one!
