Huddersfield 1-1 Manchester United: Jones, Young face wrath as United bow out of top four race [Tweets]

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield, thus ending their chances of finishing in the top four for the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.

Manchester United will be in for a strong rebuilding session in the summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen closely how much work needs to be done. The Red Devils though, will not have the lure of Champions League football to attract top players after bowing out of the top four race, thanks to a 1-1 draw at bottom-placed Huddersfield.

The game started off with Manchester United dominating and carving out chances. Throughout the game in fact, United had several chances to add to the solitary goal that Scott McTominay provided early in the first-half. Huddersfield grew into the game in the first half after the first 20 minutes and ended the half in strong fashion.

The second half saw Huddersfield become more and more ambitious. But, it was a goal kick and miss from Luke Shaw, who was United’s last defender during the play, that let Isaac Mbenza through and the Huddersfield star calmly slotted it between David de Gea’s legs and into the goal for the equaliser.

Paul Pogba hit the post twice, once in the first half and once in the second while Tahith Chong almost got United the winner, only to be denied superbly by Jonas Lossl, who made up for his error in the first goal. Manchester United fans reacted strongly to the 1-1 draw, criticising the entire team.

Manchester United ended the game with a centre-back partnership of Phil Jones and Ashley Young, something that infuriated and provided a chuckle to the Manchester United faithfuls.
