Gabriel Moscardo has been linked with a move to Europe in recent weeks, but his agent has now rubbished rumours that he has an agreement with Chelsea.
Speaking to ESPN, Giuliano Bertolucci has confirmed that Gabriel Moscardo does not have an agreement with Chelsea yet. The 18-year-old is on the radar of clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona as well.
Giuliano Bertolucci, who represents Moscardo in Europe, said: “It’s all nonsense that’s coming out [in the press].”
The 18-year-old defensive midfielder is highly rated in South America, and he has a bright future ahead of him. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for all three clubs, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. We recently covered reports that Chelsea have submitted an offer for the 18-year-old.
Chelsea have already signed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia this year. It is quite surprising that they are keen on another defensive midfielder. Moscardo will want to join a club where he will start regularly, and that might not be possible at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Arsenal need a quality defensive midfielder as well. Thomas Partey has been quite underwhelming this season and is expected to leave the club in the coming months. Moscardo would be the ideal replacement for the Ghana international.
Gabriel Moscardo has the ability to adapt to the Premier League and establish himself as a key player for Arsenal. He could be the ideal long-term partner for Declan Rice at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield. Similarly, Barcelona need a quality anchor man as well.
Apparently, they are looking at Moscardo as the potential long-term replacement for club legend Sergio Busquets. The 18-year-old is likely to be tempted to join clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona. It will be a massive opportunity for him and a major step up in his career.
All three clubs could help Gabriel Moscardo fulfil his tremendous potential, and they would provide them with the platform to showcase his ability at the highest level. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
