Giovanni Manna comments on Victor Osimhen future after missing latest game

Chelsea have been linked with a move for 25-year-old Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, and he might soon leave the Serie A club.

Victor Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world, and Chelsea are keen on securing his signature. The West London outfit have now been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Serie A-winning striker, who will cost around £100 million.

Napoli director Giovanni Manna has now revealed that Osimhen has asked to leave the Serie A club this summer. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to pay up for him. He could transform the Blues in the attack and solve their goalscoring problems. Arsenal have been linked with the player as well.

Giovanni Manna said via 90min, “Victor is a player who wants to leave. He has asked to go. Last year there was already a situation in place, we are calm because we have guys in the squad to replace him. Osimhen is a strong player but we want to give integrity to the group and we prefer to protect the creation of the team group. Then we will see what happens in the next 20 days.”

Osimhen would transfrom Chelsea

The Nigerian international would be a major upgrade on Nicolas Jackson. The former Villarreal attacker has been quite underwhelming, and he will need to be replaced if Chelsea are serious about pushing for trophies. The Blues will look to secure Champions League qualification in the upcoming season as well. They will need to plug the weaknesses in their squad.

Signing a reliable goalscorer should be one of their priorities. Osimhen has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League, and he could make an instant impact.

Meanwhile, the report from 90min claims that Chelsea are hoping to sign the player on loan, and it would be quite surprising if Napoli are prepared to sanction such a move. The Partenopei will want to get rid of the striker permanently, and they will look to recoup a substantial amount of money for him as well. Sending him out on loan does not benefit them in any way.

Meanwhile, Napoli are keen on Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian was on loan at AS Roma last season and he was quite impressive for them. The Serie A giants are clearly interested in the player, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can work out a deal that benefits them both.
