Gary Pallister has given a warning over the contract situation of Paul Pogba, iterating Manchester United will not want to be embarrassed again by him.

In an interview with The Sun, Gary Pallister has given a warning to Manchester United over the situation pertaining to Paul Pogba. The Manchester United legend has said that the Red Devils will not want to be embarrassed by the French international again, after he entered the final year of his current contract.

Paul Pogba is currently in his second coming as a Manchester United player, having returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer of 2016. Over the last half a decade, though, the 28-year-old has endured a roller-coaster of a ride with the Red Devils, complete with run-ins with a manager, poor performances, match-winning displays while also being a talisman at times.

However, the summer transfer window has turned into a precarious situation for Manchester United when it comes to Pogba, who has now entered the final year of his contract with the club. At the same time, he has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Long-time suitors Real Madrid have also shown an interest in the French international, but for all intents and purposes, it looks like he will stay put at Old Trafford. However, the fact that Manchester United could lose him for free next year makes it a situation that is better avoided, as iterated by Gary Pallister.

The Manchester United legend said, “It’s an ongoing issue – the talk around Paul. For everybody concerned I think it would be [better] if a decision is made. You certainly don’t want to be embarrassed again and lose that player on a free transfer. So I would think something has got to be sorted before the season or very soon into the season.”

“Ole has made it clear he wants him to stay. We know about the talent Paul has got. We see it with France and we see it at Man Utd – but maybe not as much as we would like to. But that always seems to be because there’s something out there to be said about him – being linked here, there and everywhere.”

“Obviously he went through that difficult period under Jose Mourinho which didn’t really help. And that’s where a lot of the rumours started. But I think for all concerned, if it was sorted out one way or another… either he decides he needs to move on or he’s going to sign a contract.Because United can’t be seen to be losing that amount of money over Paul again after the first time he left.”

Pallister’s comments make a world of sense, considering Manchester United paid a lot of money to re-sign Pogba. So, if he ends up leaving for nothing, it will become an embarrassing situation for the Red Devils, although it remains to be seen if performances this season can help them tie him down to a long-term deal.
