Chelsea have recently parted ways with Enzo Maresca after a disappointing run of results, and they have been linked with Francesco Farioli of late.
Naturally, Chelsea have been linked with multiple managers over the last few days. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in a quality replacement for Enzo Maresca. The Blues are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and they will be expected to secure Champions League qualification and fight for trophies. They need to bring in someone who can make an immediate impact.
Chelsea have not been at their best this season, and they will look to bounce back strongly. Appointing a quality manager could make a massive difference during the second half of the season.
The Blues have been linked with FC Porto manager, Francesco Farioli. The Italian tactician is highly rated across Europe, and there is no doubt that he could be an interesting acquisition for the Premier League club. However, the 36-year-old manager has now confirmed via Sky Sports that he has no intention of leaving the Portuguese club.
Farioli on Chelsea move
“There is no doubt [I am staying], never been a doubt in fact. If I go back to my previous experiences, at Nice and last season in Ajax, for me it has never been a topic to leave in the middle of the season. It is not something that stays in my mind.
“And, here in Porto, I do believe that there is also, in terms of connection and relationship with the president, with the club, something more and something deeper. So, from my side, I am totally committed to the club, totally connected to the reality we are in.”
The comments from Farioli will undoubtedly come as a blow to Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if they decide to move on to other targets. They have also been linked with Liam Rosenior from RC Strasbourg. Appointing him might be easier for Chelsea, given that the same consortium owns both clubs.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. There is minimal margin for error, and Chelsea cannot afford to take any gamble. The West London outfit have spent a substantial amount of money in the summer and they need to deliver on the pitch.
