Feyenoord defender Quilindschy Hartman has now opened up on his failed move to Chelsea.
The 23-year-old left-back was linked with the move to Chelsea, but the transfer did not materialise because of any injury. However, the defender has not revealed that he does not regret the failed transfer and he is looking to the future.
“Are you unlucky when you have become champion with Feyenoord, played in the Champions League, the quarterfinals of the Europa League and made it to the Dutch national team?” he said to Voetbal Primeur.
“It’s true that Chelsea wanted me, but of course that didn’t happen because of my knee. Too bad, emotionally it would have been a club for me, but it’s not like I’m still losing sleep over it. Things go as they go and playing for Feyenoord is never a punishment.”
Hartman keeping tabs on Liverpool
The defender has now revealed that he is keeping close tabs on Liverpool because of Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff.
Liverpool have done quite well under their new manager and they are currently on top of the league table. It will be interesting to see if they can go all the way in the competition and win the league title. They are on top of the Champions League standings as well.
“I mainly follow the Premier League now because of Liverpool, because Arne and Sipke work there,” he added.
“I played under Sipke with Feyenoord Under-21 at all kinds of amateur clubs in front of a handful of spectators and then I see him now walk to the fourth man in a top match. That makes me laugh.
“I know what Sipke is like, not impressed. He treats everyone the same, whether you’re Virgil van Dijk or a youth player at Feyenoord. That’s why I like Sipke so much.”
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old defender will be hoping to secure a big move in the future. Liverpool could certainly use a quality left-back and Hartman would be an interesting option.
Andrew Robertson has looked like a shadow of his former self this season and the Scottish International will need to be replaced in the summer. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can bring in the right additions.
