Second half goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson condemned Chelsea a 2-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
In what was a game of two halves, Chelsea utterly dominated the first period and created a number of goalscoring opportunities, but failed to make the most of those chances. And this would come back to bite them after the break as Everton stepped out on the field with more energy and purpose, which ended up reaping great rewards for them.
Richarlison reacted quick after Chelsea failed to deal with a corner to head home the ball from point-blank range to give the Toffees the lead. Things worsened for the Blues as Marcos Alonso felled the Brazilian in the box to gift Everton a penalty with twenty minutes left.
Kepa Arrizabalaga managed to save Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty, but could not stop the Icelandic international from tapping home the rebound to seal the result. The defeat meant Chelsea wasted a great chance to move into the fifth place in the Premier League table and remain three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
Here’s how the Chelsea supporters reacted to what was a poor result at Goodison Park;
In Mourinho’s last year, we were in shock and we were angry.
In Conte’s last year, we were confused and disappointed.
This year, it’s not even anything. The whole feeling of Chelsea has been sucked right out.
No one cares anymore, we just want it to end now. We’re done for.

Hard to make excuses for Sarri now.
EIght games of the Premier League season left & Chelsea are scrabbling around in sixth & facing up to the reality that the manager still can’t pick the best starting XI from the players he has available to him – I wonder if he ever will?#cfc— Mark Worrall (@gate17marco) March 17, 2019
Some years ago, only yards away from where I now sit, I saw a man trudge away to be sacked.
He had delivered amazing, free-scoring football, winning the double. His crime: finishing second.
The degree to which Chelsea’s standards and expectations has dropped is incredible.— Dan Levene (@danlevene) March 17, 2019
Chelsea loosing tonight isn’t the problem oh, it’s facing my colleagues tomorrow that is the problem??

Marcos Alonso was in for some serious criticism from the Blues’ supporters as the Spaniard struggled all game against the Toffees. The left-back constantly ceded possession to the Toffees and gave away the foul leading to the penalty.
The worst left back in the history of Chelsea Football Club, Marcos Alonso. pic.twitter.com/OsOyP9zleQ

We can say goodbye to top 4 now. Focus on winning the Europa league. We were dominating with possession and had a few chances but as Gary Neville said, there hasn’t been an urgency all game.
And Marcos Alonso, I have no words. And to Sarri, why pick Alonso? Why? Just WHY.

Can Alonso do anything ?

Everton’s chances originally came from Alonso falling over and losing the ball, then jogging back.
It’s not even an agenda either, the guy is just a terrible, terrible Footballer.

Left church less than an hour ago & I already wish bad things would happen to Marcos Alonso. What even is the point?

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and wish Alonso was in the car with Princess Diana

Enough is enough man, Alonso can’t keep playing. Costing us top 4 this season.

Marcos Alonso, ladies & gentleman. Lazy & careless. What a horrible attempt at a tackle.
2-0 Everton.
