Luis Suarez scored a fine brace to maintain Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table against Espanyol last night, in a hotly contested Catalan Derby that many felt could be the place that sees Barcelona’s title challenge take a blow.
Espanyol had started off in typical fashion, with some solid defending not giving Barcelona too many clear cut opportunities. A needless, sloppy backpass from Jurado gifted Barcelona a goal in the 50th minute however and Barcelona did not look back after their opener.
Ivan Rakitic then added a second for Barcelona before Luis Suarez wrapped up the proceedings late on after yet another terrible mistake from Aaron Martin. Twitter was intially critical of Suarez but that soon changed once he fired Barcelona back into first position in the table after Real Madrid beat Valencia earlier on Saturday night.
I’ll always remember this derby as the one where Suarez & Rakitic played a 1-2 to each other with 2 bad 1st touches

Offside but why didn’t Suarez shoot?
— Josip (@jperkovic93) April 29, 2017
I mean even Mascherano has scored a goal since Suarez last did.

Luis Suarez to Lionel Messi is the most profitable assist-to-goalscorer combination (6 goals) in La Liga this season. [WhoScored]

Sergio Busquets also put in yet another brilliant showing and many Barcelona fans on Twitter were quick to give him credit.
Busquets’s football is in his head. DM are rated for tackles and interceptions but he’s rated for wisdom. What a beautiful footballer he is.

I JUST CAN’T DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I LOVE SERGIO BUSQUETS I BURGOS.
— ishthebiscuit (@SergioBiscuit) April 29, 2017
Sergio Busquets, the most underrated player ever…I mean people blab Kante this Kante that, even drunk Busi will play better than Kante
— Maria (@LuckyMariakh) April 29, 2017
Not many people know this, but Busquets is the second most important player in Barça after Messi. Masterclasses week in and week out.
— Cruyffista (@BusquetsLegacy) April 29, 2017
Busquets has been handing out one masterclass after the other these past few months. Nobody in the world brings what he can offer to a side.
— Sameer (@Sameer_R13) April 29, 2017
Also Busquets with another masterclass. He’s so great at relieving the pressure of his teammates, best in his position by far.
— El Máestro (@ElMaestrofcb) April 29, 2017
Busquets was imperial as well. Most underrated mid in the world
— Julian (@ElaficionadoFC) April 29, 2017
I don’t care who’s Barca’s 2nd best offensive player but Barca’s most important player after Messi is Busquets. A masterclass tonight.

And, of course, there were conspiracy theories and mockery on show after Jurado’s moment of madness that gifted Barcelona the opening goal.
Jurado surely on Barca’s pay roll? Missed a one on one and now gifts Barca a goal. Benzema-esque performance.
— Fenomenista (@Fenomenista) April 29, 2017
MOTM: Jurado. Missed a sitter and assisted their first goal.
— Adriana (@beedm88) April 29, 2017
That’s a superb assist from Jurado.
— Diana Kristinne (@DianaKristinne) April 29, 2017
If we end up winning the Laliga we need to place a statue of Manuel Jurado outside the Camp Nou. He was instrumental in one win last night
