Erling Haaland urged to join Arsenal

Lukas Podolski has optimistically suggested Arsenal sign Manchester City, Real Madrid target Erling Haaland and solve their striker issues.

Arsenal are searching for a new No.9 going into the summer transfer window and are linked with multiple names. The likes of Darwin Nunez, Victor Osimhen and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are on their shortlist, but there are other alternatives such as Jonathan David and Alexander Isak on the sheet too.

In recent days, Arsenal have been linked with Gabriel Jesus, with Arsenal expected to make an offer worth £35 million to Manchester City for the Brazilian forward. There is every chance Jesus could move to north London. However, there is also an understanding that the Gunners may look for another high-profile name in addition to Jesus.

Lukas Podolski has now optimistically urged Arsenal make an ambitious move for Erling Haaland, who has a modest release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract. Other elements, such as agent fees and other commissions connected with the transfer, on top of the top-notch salary the striker would command.

Podolski’s comments urging Arsenal to sign Haaland appeared on Football Transfers via Stadium Astro, where he pointed towards the affordable release clause in the Norwegian’s contract. He also insisted the Dortmund striker, also a target for Manchester City and Real Madrid, would be perfect to slot in the possibly vacant striker berth at the Emirates.

Podolski said, “If he’s coming to England, he has to come to us Arsenal of course. Haaland is an interesting player for everyone because I think he has a release clause, and there are not a lot of clubs who can pay that. Of course, the English clubs have it, and I’d be happy if he got an offer from Arsenal.”

“I think, first of all, Arsenal need a No.9. We don’t have a proper No.9. Then, it would be great for the fans, for everyone at the club to make the next step for Arsenal. Let’s see what happen to him. Arsenal won’t be the only club who would send an offer to Borussia Dortmund.”

Realistically, Arsenal may not be able to afford the striker. Moreover, there are other big clubs vying for his signature, including Manchester City who are inching closer to securing the transfer. Real Madrid have also been keen on landing Haaland, although Manchester City could be his next destination.
