Eduardo Camavinga opens up about deciding on Real Madrid move

Eduardo Camavinga has opened up about completing his move to Real Madrid, claiming he did not hesitate in choosing the club as his next destination.

In an interview with Telefoot, as relayed by Spanish publication AS, Eduardo Camavinga has revealed what he had been feeling in the moments leading up to his move to Real Madrid. The French midfielder has claimed that he did not need to think twice before choosing Real Madrid as his next destination.

Eduardo Camavinga is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world, having broken into and become a key figure for Stade Rennais while still in his teens. So, it did not come as a surprise when some of the biggest clubs in Europe started courting him, with the interest stemming back in the summer of 2020.

Camavinga, though, chose to stay put at Rennes for an additional year before finally making his move. And after being linked with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window, he chose Real Madrid as his next club on deadline day.

Now, Camavinga has opened up about his move to the Santiago Bernabeu, claiming that he did not hesitate in choosing Real Madrid as his next destination while also adding that he will remain a lifelong Rennes supporter.

“When I learned that Real Madrid were tracking me and were willing to make an offer to sign me, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. These are things you can’t drag your feet on. Rennes are my lifelong team; I watch all their games in Ligue 1. It’s true I could have stayed at Rennes, they will always be in my heart and I will never forget them. I’ll be back at the stadium to see all my friends there soon.”

“When I’m on the pitch I want to help the team. I wasn’t directly involved if you look at the goal, I was on the right and I took advantage o the rebound to score. At first, I didn’t celebrate because I never thought I’d score on my debut. I looked at the referee first then it all went mad.”

Camavinga has also added that he will be hoping to regain his place in the French national side with his performance for Real Madrid. The early signs do appear to be promising and it remains to be seen if the teenage prodigy can elevate his game to the next level this season, thereby staking claim for a place in the squad for the World Cup next year.
