Eden Hazard insists he will prove his worth to Real Madrid

Eden Hazard has claimed that he is eager to put the frustrations of injuries behind him and prove his worth to Real Madrid going forward.

In an interview with Belgian publication HLN, as quoted by The Athletic, Eden Hazard has gone ahead and refuted the criticism hurled at him for being “injured all the time”. The Belgian forward has also added that he is intent on proving his worth to Real Madrid in the three years that remain on his contract.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in the summer of 2019 in a big-money move, achieving a lifelong dream of representing the Spanish giants. The dream, though, has turned into a nightmare, as a spate of injuries have hampered him considerably, with the Belgian forward unable to make much of an impact for Los Blancos.

His frustrations have translated into speculation around his Real Madrid future as well, and it was suggested as recently as the dying embers of the summer transfer window he could be on his way to Juventus, although those claims have since been refuted.

However, his injury woes have compounded a lot of issues for Hazard, who is now determined to put that exasperation behind him to prove his worth to Real Madrid. That is exactly what Hazard has confessed in an interview with HLN, as quoted by The Athletic.

Hazard said, “I signed with Real Madrid for five seasons. The first two have not been good, the injuries have not helped me, but I still have three more to prove my worth. I hope it works, I hope to get up one morning and feel great on the training ground.”

“If I feel pain there, I drag it to the games and I will continue to have it. I am waiting for that moment when I can show my worth again. Real Madrid have already spent a lot of money on me. I want to give something back to them.”

Hazard has started the 2021/22 season in inconsistent fashion, but there have been some promising signs on show as well. What now remains to be seen is if he can rediscover his best touch in the coming weeks and months to start being true to his word and prove his worth to Real Madrid this season.
