Donny van de Beek is set to part ways with Manchester United in the summer but his agent has ruled out a return to Ajax.
Donny van de Beek has no intentions of continuing at Manchester United. The Dutch international wants to part ways with the English giants in the summer in search of regular first-team minutes.
Van de Beek made a name for himself while playing for Ajax. He came up the ranks at the Dutch club and was a part of their dream that make it to the Champions League semi-final back in the day. On the back of his impressive rise and consistent performances for the club, Manchester United acquired his services in 2020 for €40 million.
While a lot was expected from the Dutch international, he never really got going and has been struggling since the start. He had a short loan spell at Everton back in 2022 and even that did not go according to plan.
Van de Beek decided to continue at United for the 2023/24 season but he hardly got any minutes in the first half of the season and they ended up sending him out on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt for the remainder of the season. While a loan move to the German club also has a buy option, the 27-year-old has only been involved in eight league games, making it quite clear that they won’t trigger the clause.
Donny Van de Beek to leave Manchester United
While the Dutch international is expected to return to his parent club in the summer, his agent Guido Albers has made it clear that Van de Beek will leave Manchester United in the summer. The former Ajax star has no intentions of continuing in the Premier League.
While talking to ESPN via AD, Albers said: “He doesn’t want to stay in the Premier League, neither does Manchester United,”
That is not the right choice for him. He needs to go to a club that plays good football. In any case, he will not return to Ajax,”
The attacking midfielder has been linked with a move back to his former club Ajax where he has had a lot of success. While reports suggest the Dutch club are keen on bringing him back, his agent has ruled out that possibility.
He further added: “My preference is to look in France, Italy or Spain. That would be fantastic. Hopefully at a club where he can play at ‘ten’ again, he also did that at Ajax and then he showed what a fantastic player he is.”
Albers is looking for a club that could give him regular first-team minutes, a club where he can once again play as a number 10 having excelled in that role in the past. Their preference is to find a suitable club in Ligue 1, Serie A or La Liga.
