Dele Alli was the hero as Spurs ended Chelsea’s 13-match winning streak with a 2-0 triumph on Wednesday’s London derby at White Hart Lane.
It was the first big game of 2017 and it has already turned out to be a pivotal one as far as the title is concerned as Spurs ended Chelsea’s winning streak with a 2-0 victory at the Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino has developed a knack for tactically undoing the big teams this year with Antonio Conte’s Chelsea their latest victim.
And just like the game against Manchester City early on in the season, it was Dele Alli who turned up on the big occasion to help Spurs to a massive win that helped them leapfrog Arsenal and City to 3rd spot.
They now sit only 2 points off second-placed Liverpool and with Jurgen Klopp’s side facing the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea later on this month, Spurs will want to stay hot on their heels and capitalize on any potential slip-ups.
The victory was also sweet revenge for last season when Chelsea famously held Spurs to a draw at Stamford Bridge to hand the title Leicester City.
All-in-all, it was a strong statement of intent from Pochettino’s side who have brought themselves well into the title challenge with five consecutive wins and Twitter was abuzz owing to the sparkling performances from Dele, Christian Eriksen and Moussa Dembele.

Alli is the MOTM today for obvious reasons, but when Eriksen is on form everything seems to fall into place. Exceptional from him today.

FT: 2-0. Fine performance from #thfc, of patience, energy and guile. Alli will get plaudits but Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Toby excellent.
