Darren Bent has tipped Arsenal to move for Michael Olise, suggesting the Crystal Palace playmaker would fit in the Emirates and is of Mikel Arteta’s type.
Michael Olise has taken the Premier League by storm this season. His rise to the top has been surprising after being signed by Crystal Palace last summer from Reading. The 20-year-old has surprised many with some notable performances and is becoming a key part of Patrick Vieira’s plans.
Naturally, his performances have attracted the interest of some notable clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea. The Gunners, in particular, seem to be interested in a player of a wide profile, while the Palace youngster’s age profile suits the north London club’s needs.
Arsenal have been keeping tabs on many other players for the wide attacking role. They are linked with Serge Gnarby, although Crystal Palace playmaker Olise could become a viable target if they cannot sign the German international.
He will certainly cost a premium in the next window if the Gunners decide to approach Crystal Palace over a summer move. Although Arteta will be keen on prioritising signing a new striker over a wide player, there is a possibility that he signs a wide-attacker.
Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has now suggested Olise that could be the perfect player for Arteta’s plans. As quoted by Football 365, the former English striker tipped Arsenal to make a summer move for the Crystal Palace youngster.
Bent said, “He is certainly the type of player Mikel Arteta will like. We know he likes young players, and this kid has really impressed me. For large spells, I thought it was just all about Wilfried Zaha and Eze, but at the moment, he has himself into the team and been sensational. He can go past people, he has a nice range of passing, he can score a goal, and his final delivery has been lovely.”
“I think he is a top player. It makes sense – if you look at what Mikel Arteta has done in the transfer market at the start of the season, all the players were 24 or younger. He [Olise] fits that kind of mould. The only thing you would say is where would he play because, in those front areas, Arsenal are quite loaded. Someone of that quality, it doesn’t surprise me to see Arsenal and those top sides interested.”
Only time will tell if Olise joins Arsenal when he eventually leaves Crystal Palace. For now, the 20-year-old playmaker continues to go from strength to strength at Selhurst Park, becoming one of the best young players in the Premier League.
