Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been told that he would be a better fit for Chelsea amid transfer speculations this summer.
Speaking to the Mirror, former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has claimed that Manchester United maverick Cristiano Ronaldo would be a great fit for Chelsea amid speculations surrounding the future of the 37-year-old.
Ronaldo returned to Manchester United last summer from Juventus and enjoyed an impressive campaign on a personal level, bagging 24 goals across all competitions. However, the team as a whole failed to deliver, as they finished outside the top four, missing out on Champions League football for the upcoming season.
On top of that, Manchester United have had a quiet start to the summer transfer window, which has led to Ronaldo getting frustrated and seeking an exit from the club. Chelsea, who are in the market for a new striker after letting Romelu Lukaku leave, have shown interest in the Portugal captain and are considering making an offer of around £14 million.
And, Stan Collymore has now claimed that Ronaldo can be a great fit at Stamford Bridge and could elevate Chelsea with his partnership alongside imminent new signing Raheem Sterling.

“Ronaldo does not fit with United’s evolution, there’s no doubt about that. That’s why I have been saying for months now that they should move him on this summer. But for Chelsea, he’d be the perfect fit and I could well see his goals and Raheem Sterling’s assists taking the Blues significantly closer to Manchester City and Liverpool in the table,” Collymore said.
The former Liverpool ace also added that young English players like Mason Mount and Reece James could benefit from playing with an icon like Ronaldo, claiming that a deal would be a win-win for both Chelsea and the Portuguese superstar.
“Ronaldo is a fitness geek and a player of the highest level, and his pushing of individuals would get the most out of a squad which is much more balanced and ready for success than the United team he wants to leave. Chelsea have had plenty of big-name players before and being in that part of south-west London would suit him down to the ground,” he said.
“There’s no doubt that such as Mason Mount and Reece James would seriously benefit from working with him. London, the capital, would be a breath of fresh for Ronaldo. If Chelsea do get a deal done for him it would be a win-win for both parties.”
However, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel does not see things the same way as Collymore and has reservations about signing Ronaldo this summer. So, it remains to be seen if there is a chance of a move happening this summer.
