Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has now refused to rule out a move to Manchester City in future.
Cristiano Ronaldo was recently asked about his future when he attended the Globe Soccer Awards, and the Manchester United icon suggested that one can never rule out anything in football.
CNN Sport presenter Amanda Davies asked him, “Is this the moment, Cristiano, that maybe you join up and give them a helping hand? I know we’ve talked about it in the past.
“Well in football, you never know what’s going to happen,” Ronaldo replied, with Davies reacting, “That’s not a no.”
Manchester City have not been at their best this season, and they could easily miss out on the title. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in the right additions over the next few months and improve the squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo could be a useful stop-gap solution for them in the final third, but they already have Erling Haaland leading the line for them, and they will not want to bench the Norwegian international to accommodate Ronaldo. A move to the Premier League seems highly unlikely for the Portuguese superstar.
Manchester City need quality additions
Manchester City must look to make the most of the January transfer window and plug the gaps in their squad. It has been a hugely disappointing season for them, and it remains to be seen whether they can bounce back strongly during the second half of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese international was heavily linked to the move to Manchester City before he decided to return to Manchester United in 2021. The deal was reportedly very close, but Sir Alex Ferguson stepped in and convinced the player to move to Manchester United instead.
Ronaldo did reasonably well upon his return to Old Trafford for a second spell, but he eventually fell out with former manager, Erik ten Hag and ended up moving to Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr.
A return to European football seems highly unlikely for Ronaldo at this stage of his career, and elite clubs like Manchester City will want to build for the future instead of investing in a player who is clearly on his last legs.
