Cody Gakpo says it would be an honour to play for Liverpool and Manchester United

PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo insisted he would love to play either for Manchester United or Liverpool in the Premier League.

As relayed by Sports Witness, Cody Gakpo admitted his love for Manchester United and Liverpool but also added that PSV is his dream club. The attacker was linked with a plethora of clubs but the Dutch club managed to keep hold of him.

Gakpo has been in sublime form for PSV banging in goal after goal for them. United came close towards landing him but PSV’s reluctance saw the Red Devils agreeing on a deal for Ajax winger Antony this summer.

Leeds United too were gunning for his signature and had even sent a chartered flight for his arrival but the player was not released by his club and he remain in Holland.

It is suggested PSV are in dire need of cash and they might entertain bids upward of £30 million this January. United are in for a different profile of forward and could resolve their problems by grabbing the Dutch international.

He will be one of the players to watch in the World Cup and a good World Cup might elevate his position. Liverpool have also scouted the player and Jurgen Klopp would love to have a player of his calibre at his disposal.

Sadio Mane’s departure left a void in the left wing and Gakpo can certainly be his successor. The 23-year-old has already been involved in 30 goal contributions and will further step up when the league resumes in December.

The Netherlands youngster feels it would be an honour to play in the Premier League for Manchester United and Liverpool.

“PSV was always my dream club. As for the rest, I don’t really have one.

“Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. It would be an honour to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team I would do best in.”

It would be pretty interesting to see if United and Liverpool knock on the door of PSV to acquire his signature as the Dutch club is under severe pressure to make some room by selling players.
