Erick Wynalda has urged Christian Pulisic to snub Leeds United and join Newcastle United if he leaves Chelsea.

In an interview with Vegas Insider, Erick Wynalda has urged Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic to move to Newcastle instead of Leeds United.

The Chelsea winger has not managed to establish himself as a regular starter for the Blues during his time at the club and he needs to leave in order to kick-start his career. With the January transfer window looming, it will be interesting to see whether Pulisic can secure a move to St James’ Park or Elland Road.

“I think if he ends up making a move in January, after the World Cup, I am starting to lean more and more towards the direction of Newcastle. Things that I am hearing about the money they are going to splash is interesting.”

I don’t think Leeds, for example, would be a good spot for him. That’s not a team that is going to score a ton of goals. He’s going to be on the end of a lot of quality if he stays at Chelsea, he’s just not going to get the minutes that would equate to big numbers.”

Newcastle have put together an ambitious project, and they are expected to reinforce their squad substantially over the next few windows. Pulisic could prove to be a quality addition for them in the long run.

Newcastle certainly have more resources than Leeds, and they are a club capable of challenging for the major trophies in future. Eddie Howe has already brought in a number of quality players like Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak recently. And the Chelsea outcast should fit in well with the Magpies.

A player of his quality will want to play at a high level. And Newcastle have the potential to matching up to his ambitions in the near future.

The Magpies can definitely use more quality and depth in the wide areas, and Pulisic will be a wise addition for them. Currently, Newcastle are overly reliant on Allan Saint-Maximin for creativity and flair. Pulisic’s arrival will give Howe more options to work with.

Given his situation at Stamford Bridge, it is fair to assume that he could be available for a reasonable fee. Pulisic has not been a key player for Graham Potter and has had his fair share of injury problems. A fresh start will be ideal for the Chelsea outcast at this stage of his career.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle come forward with an official approach after the World Cup for the player. But if Leeds United are interested, the battle for Pulisic’s services might be worth watching.
