A late Kurt Zouma own goal denied Chelsea their second win of the 2019-20 Premier League, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield United at home.

Chelsea’s frustrating start to life under Frank Lampard continued on Saturday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by newly-promoted Sheffield United at the Stamford Bridge.

In what was an evenly contested first half, Chelsea came away with a big advantage as Tammy Abraham grabbed a brace once again after his exploits against Norwich last weekend. But, Sheffield United struck back soon after the restart through Callum Robinson, halving the home team’s advantage.

While Chelsea failed to find a third goal to kill the game, it looked for a long time that they would hold on to their slender lead to pick up their second win. However, with just a minute of normal time left, Robinson’s cross found its way into the Blues’ net via a deflection off Kurt Zouma, restoring parity and denying Lampard’s side a win.

Chelsea supporters mourned the disappointing outcome as they failed to hold on to a two-goal lead against a newly-promoted side, with a number of fans questioning the manager’s team selection and tactics.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta was in for a lot of criticism after another poor performance, as was Zouma who has looked quite unconvincing since the start of the season.
