Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool: Reds survive late scare to continue perfect start to Premier League season [Tweets]

Liverpool survived a late onslaught from Chelsea to head back home with a narrow 2-1 win from Stamford Bridge, with Trent Alexander-Arnold impressing.

It took Liverpool just 14 minutes to grab a foothold in the game, with Trent Alexander-Arnold bundling in an emphatic free-kick from around 20 yards out. The Reds were then two to the good at the half hour mark, when Roberto Firmino caressed Andrew Robertson’s cross into the bottom corner.

N’Golo Kante did pull a goal back for Chelsea, scoring a fantastic solo goal in the 71st minute, thereby setting up a frantic end to the game. But, Liverpool managed to hold on to their slender advantage to make it six wins in six at the start of the Premier League season. And, Alexander-Arnold was the toast of the fans following a strong display.

Another player who received the adulation of the Liverpool fans was Roberto Firmino, who not just scored the winner but also worked hard to earn his side all three points.

Finally, Adrian and Joel Matip were lauded for their efforts in contributing towards the narrow win for Liverpool.
