Chelsea 1-1 Atletico Madrid: Blues miss out on top spot in Group C [Best Tweets]

Chelsea secured second place in Group C and confirmed qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a tense 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues could have come away with all three points and finished on top of the group, had it not been for some poor finishing. Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres set up Saul Niguez for Atletico’s opener in the 56th minute to silence Stamford Bridge.

After some extra pressure, the Blues managed to get get back in the game thanks to an own goal from Stefan Savic. The result sees Atleti crash out, into the Europa League.

Eden Hazard had another fantastic outing against Atletico. The Belgian also managed to force the own goal from Savic in the 75th minute and his performance and influence was hailed by the majority of those on social media.

A number of fans ripped into Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willian and Alvaro Morata for their performances on the night, accusing them for being the reason the Blues didn’t finish at the top of the group.
