Chelsea secured second place in Group C and confirmed qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a tense 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues could have come away with all three points and finished on top of the group, had it not been for some poor finishing. Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres set up Saul Niguez for Atletico’s opener in the 56th minute to silence Stamford Bridge.
After some extra pressure, the Blues managed to get get back in the game thanks to an own goal from Stefan Savic. The result sees Atleti crash out, into the Europa League.
Eden Hazard had another fantastic outing against Atletico. The Belgian also managed to force the own goal from Savic in the 75th minute and his performance and influence was hailed by the majority of those on social media.
Another top performance from Eden Hazard today. His 7th Man Of The Match in his last 9 games. The best player in the world currently.

Eden Hazard working hard to get away from 5 markers only to get robbed off an assist, water is wet. pic.twitter.com/aPq2gY8v5Z

Eden Hazard is on another level right now ?? pic.twitter.com/9hQwwsl1Su

Eden Hazard is the best player in the premier league, easily top 5 in the world. If you can’t see that, then you’re a biased, blind and deluded person or a Man utd fan.. Both are often the same thing.

Pundit: “You watch Griezmann play and say to yourself he’s a great player. But you watch Hazard play and say to yourself he’s world class”
Levels…

Hazard smirking when asked about facing Barca or PSG. Totally unfazed. Clearly backs himself against either of them.
— RG (@registability) December 5, 2017
Hazard is ripe for that Madrid move.
— Mr. Jack Robinson (@jackdre02) December 5, 2017
I want revenge for 2012 as much as any cule but Hazard in his current form would blow us away. I’d honestly rather draw Bayern because even though they’re overall a better team than Chelsea, they don’t have Hazard.

A number of fans ripped into Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willian and Alvaro Morata for their performances on the night, accusing them for being the reason the Blues didn’t finish at the top of the group.
Oh my lord. pic.twitter.com/QyzSxG1ATq

When Ferdinand said Bakayoko doesn’t know which position he plays, I thought he was just joking. A waste of space for sure. His awareness is disgraceful.

Alvaro Morata is a brilliant striker, but he really isn’t great when he’s got loads of time and space. Always converts the harder chances that are more instinctive. #CHEATL

Anyone who ever compared Bakayoko to matic or pogba needs to be arrested
— kenna (@kennagq) December 5, 2017
Morata misses far too many big chances for me to take him seriously.
— Chenkovic (@_Asgardian) December 5, 2017
Hope Cesc and Hazard don’t speak anymore to Morata and Willian. Cost them a good 5-6 assists
— christensen fanboy (@o_monzi) December 5, 2017
Willian just needs to wear an Atleti shirt at this point
— َ (@HazardEdition) December 5, 2017
There’s no way Willian is Brazilian. I refuse to believe it.
— ` (@CescMagician) December 5, 2017
Willian has been Atletico’s best player
— Conteholic (@Conteholic) December 5, 2017
PSG have many dangerous Brazilian players but by far the most dangerous is Willian
— Brian? (@BRlANFC) December 5, 2017
This is Willian’s fifth season as a Chelsea player and his best game at Stamford Bridge is one he played as an opposition player.
— Jamie (@JCollettCFC) December 6, 2017
Bakayoko might just be our worst signing under abramovich.
