Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been linked with a summer move away from the club in recent weeks.
Arne Slot is facing an uncertain future at the club, following a disappointing season. Liverpool are currently fourth in the league table, and they are pushing to secure Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign.
The Merseyside outfit managed to win the league title last season, and they were expected to build on it. Instead, Slot’s men have crashed out of all competitions, and they have been nowhere near good enough to challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title.
Apart from the poor results, their performances have been quite mediocre as well. It is no surprise that Slot is being linked with an exit. Liverpool need to do a lot better, and it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to bring in another manager.
According to a report from Sky Sports, the Liverpool head coach is confident of staying at the club beyond the season. He has revealed that he believes he will be in charge of the Premier League side next season. It remains to be seen what the club hierarchy decides. Meanwhile, Slot has been linked with a move to Ajax in recent weeks.
Slot said: “I don’t think I am deciding that myself alone. I have every reason to believe that I am the Liverpool manager next season. First of all, I am contracted to this club, and second of all from all the talks we are having. Plans have been made and talks have been ongoing between the club and new players, and I am involved in that, if that is what you want to know.”
Liverpool clearly need a change, and Slot has not been able to bring out the best in his players. Appointing a quality manager could prove to be crucial for them. The outgoing Premier League champions are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they cannot afford to only fight for a place in the top four.
They should consistently push for league titles and the UEFA Champions League. They have been linked to managers such as Xabi Alonso in recent weeks. The Spanish manager was sacked by Real Madrid earlier this year, but he is highly rated within the game. The former Liverpool midfielder is highly rated by the fans as well. It could be a welcome appointment. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
