Andy Goldstein urges Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah with Bukayo Saka

Talk Sport host Andy Goldstein urges Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah with Arsenal sensation Bukayo Saka; co-host Darren Bent disagrees.

The Mohamed Salah chapter took another turn on Tuesday, as the Saudis are using all their might to get a deal over the line with their window still open. The lateness of the sale will hurt Liverpool in many ways in the context of the season. Jurgen Klopp continues to face questions from the media about the Egyptian’s future.

Liverpool turned down a mega-money offer from Al-Ittihad on deadline day, which may have been worth £150 million. The club insisted the winger was not for sale at any price, given the timing of the bid. As things stand, the Saudis could push on to try and find a solution.

On Tuesday, reports emerged of Al Ittihad readying a new £200 million plus bid for Salah. These stories will continue destabilising Liverpool until the Saudi window shuts. Fans will also hope for a definitive answer from the winger about his future.

Other reports insisted Salah was reportedly given time off to decide his future. Liverpool will benefit if they accept the latest reported offer in the mix, which could allow the club to invest in the squad for the future. But doing so at this stage of the season could have a disruptive effect on the team.

Now, Talk Sport host Andy Goldstein urged Liverpool to sell Salah and use a chink of the money to sign 22-year-old Arsenal star Bukayo Saka. The popular host argued with colleague and Arsenal fan Darren Bent, who disagreed and suggested the Gunners would not sell.

Here are some comments from the argument between the two Talk Sport hosts. First, Goldstein said, “If Liverpool sold Salah for £200m, would they get Saka for £150m?”

To which Bent responded by saying, “No. Arsenal wouldn’t sell.”

Watch the clip above to know how the argument transpired as Bent defends that Saka was not for sale. Moreover, it’s the second time someone has suggested a similar idea. Former Arsenal star Paul Merson threw a similar notion to Liverpool.

As things stand, Saka is not for sale at any price. The 22-year-old only recently signed a new long-term deal with the club, and manager Mikel Arteta considers him the star of their side.

Moreover, Arsenal’s acquisition of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz shows they are a serious club about challenging for honours. Selling Saka to a direct rival like Liverpool or Man City will resonate poorly with the fans. The 22-year-old is an integral part of their plans for the future.
