Alexis Mac Allister confirms desire to play in La Liga

Alexis Mac Allister would be open to a future move to La Liga, although he did insist on being happy at Liverpool in the present.

Alexis Mac Allister was a sensational signing for Liverpool, first for the quality he brings and then for the price at which they managed to sign him from Brighton last year. The Argentine World Cup winner was a key player under Jurgen Klopp last season and has continued that trend under new boss Arne Slot.

Mac Allister brings dynamism to the Liverpool midfield as well as to the Argentina national side. His ability to control the tempo as well as chip in key goals makes him a formidable weapon for Arne Slot, as many top teams will be keeping a close watch on his future.

He has a contract until 2028, which will keep Liverpool relaxed about any future departure. He was linked with Real Madrid back in the summer, but did insist he was happy to stay at Liverpool, and that might still be the case with him, although he does not rule out a future move to Spain.

During an interview with AS via Sport Witness, Mac Allister was asked about whether he would like a move to La Liga in the future, and he said yes. The Liverpool key man might have opened a new door in the process of his comments, although a transfer is not expected to materialise anytime soon.

Mac Allister said, “Yes, why not? It is a country that I really like, and I have visited it several times, and, above all, because of the language and culture it is very similar to Argentina,” he said.

“Without a doubt, I would like to play in Spain one day. But today I am very comfortable at Liverpool.”

While there’s no ruling out a future move to La Liga, Mac Allister will continue to focus on having a sensational season at Liverpool. He has been a key part of Arne Slot’s side leads the Premier League standings by four points, and sit top of the Champions League standings too.

For Liverpool, the Argentine’s future is not the source of concern, as they are worried about losing three other key stars. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are into the final year of their deals, although, as of Sunday, Liverpool have offered the trio contract offers for consideration.
