Santiago Gimenez’s agent confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the in-form 22-year-old striker, as Ange Postecoglou might look to sign him.

Santiago Gimenez has become the centre of the media’s attraction and their willingness to link him with moves to top clubs. The Mexican has been in top form and looks like a man on a mission to break the Eredivisie scoring record set by the legendary Coen Dillen, who hit 43 goals in one season.

Nobody would have thought about naming Gimenez in the same breath as Dillen, considering the Mexican only scored 15 times last season. His goals did help Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title for the second time in a century and hence had its importance.

Gimenez has already broken Feyenoord’s scoring record for goals after eight games in a season. His brace against PEC Zwolle took his tally to 12 goals this season. He is in line to come close to the Eredivisie record if he continues the current form.

Since the summer window, Gimenez has seen links with a move away from Feyenoord, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea among those keen. Feyenoord remain aware of the interest and could demand a significant fee in return.

Some reports suggest Arsenal and Tottenham were reportedly told to pay €50 million or more, which seems within range for the London sides. Now, his agent, Dutch outlet ED, told Tottenham are keen to take him in the future.

Gimenez’s agent said, “Santi is one of the top ten (most coveted) players in Europe. “So even Tottenham Hotspur (are interested). Many clubs (want him). Milan, Inter, Napoli and Lazio. Atletico were very interested.”

Tottenham, for their part, lacks a top-draw centre-forward as Ange Postecoglou has played Son Heung-min in the No.9 role. The South Korean’s best position is on the left, with Richarlison also needing support from someone. In fact, the Brazilian has yet to prove his worth in being their starting striker since his move in the summer of 2022.

As for Gimenez, he already dreams of a move to Real Madrid if things went his way. The in-form 22-year-old striker remains open to joining one of the Premier League sides if no move to Spain materialises. Hence, Tottenham have every chance to sign him, and Postecoglou would want him in January to sustain a potential title challenge.

Tottenham ended at the top of the Premier League table after their win over Luton Town. Arsena’s win over Manchester City brought the Gunners level on points with Spurs. Postecoglou’s side remains top due to their superior goals-scored record.
