Fulham are considering a move for Michael Carrick as a replacement for the under-fire Alvaro Arbeloa if both managers leave their current positions.
According to Indykaila News on X, Fulham could consider appointing Carrick as their new manager if he departs Manchester United. With Arbeloa under pressure following a dismal start to the new campaign, the club could look to appoint the 45-year-old Manchester United legend if he becomes available.
The Premier League managerial sack race is reaching a critical stage, with the first casualty potentially arriving soon. Several managers are reportedly at risk of losing their jobs, including Manchester United’s Michael Carrick and Fulham’s Alvaro Arbeloa.
Fulham are considering the idea of bringing in Carrick as a replacement for Arbeloa, although any such appointment would require the former to leave Manchester United. As for the Spaniard, he has been under pressure because of Fulham’s poor start to the season, although the narrow victory over Hull City will have relieved some of that pressure.
Arbeloa’s lack of experience at the highest level of management could be a major reason why he risks losing his job. There were suggestions that he had two matches to save his position, and he has so far delivered in the first of them. However, the pressure will only ease if the Cottagers continue winning matches.
Is Michael Carrick to Fulham a good idea?
Fulham are reportedly keen to appoint a manager with Premier League experience if Arbeloa is dismissed, although Carrick’s record in the top flight is relatively limited. The 45-year-old Manchester United legend has not managed extensively at this level, although his stature at the Red Devils could work in his favour.
Carrick is currently under pressure to deliver better results at Manchester United. Although reports suggest he is not in immediate danger of losing his job, that situation could change. Carrick could leave Manchester United in the coming period, while Antonio Conte has already been mentioned as a possible replacement.
Fulham could be a good option for Carrick if he leaves Old Trafford, where the pressure may be considerably lower. However, only time will tell whether the Cottagers are serious about adding him to their list of potential replacements for Arbeloa, as several other candidates are likely to be considered.
