Newcastle United retain faith in Matthias Jaissle despite sluggish start

Newcastle United have complete faith in Matthias Jaissle following a dismal run of results, with the German tactician in no danger of losing his job.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are not considering an abrupt decision on manager Matthias Jaissle in the near future. The club reportedly retain faith in the German coach despite a run of poor results and are willing to give him time to develop an ambitious project at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle United endured another difficult summer, with the recurring problem of players being unwilling to join the club emerging once again. The major story surrounding the club was the rebuilding of their midfield, which saw Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali depart, alongside Anthony Gordon.

The bigger news was Eddie Howe stepping down from his role as manager, forcing the Magpies to make the risky decision to appoint German head coach Matthias Jaissle. Newcastle’s pursuit of Jaissle attracted plenty of surprise and generated mixed opinions across the market, with many questioning how he would fare in the Premier League.

After Newcastle appointed Jaissle, he made a bright start to life at St. James’ Park. The early results were impressive, including a victory over Tottenham Hotspur and a draw against Liverpool. However, results have declined in recent weeks, particularly after two 4-1 defeats to Leeds United and the newly promoted Coventry City.

Matthias Jaissle safe in his role

Those results have placed pressure on Jaissle and his team to perform at the weekend when they face Aston Villa at St. James’ Park. There is already considerable pressure on the German manager to secure a convincing victory.

Although there have been suggestions that the under-fire manager could come under consideration for the sack, that is not the case. Newcastle United are prepared to maintain their faith in Jaissle and give him time to turn things around while continuing his work on what appears to be an exciting long-term project.

Jaissle has had to deal with significant changes to his squad, and further changes could take place in the near future. However, immediate results could eventually influence his future or at least increase speculation about his position. For now, the German tactician’s role is safe, although a prolonged run of poor results could force the club to reassess his position.
