Fulham eyeing Hugo Oliveira, Abel Ferreira as Marco Silva replacement

Marco Silva has left Fulham, and they are now looking to bring in a replacement for the Portuguese manager.

According to a report from Ben Jacobs, Fulham are looking at Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira and Famalicao boss Hugo Oliveira as potential options. Both managers have done quite well for their respective teams, and they could prove to be interesting acquisitions for the West London club.

Ferreira is highly regarded in South American football, and his teams are known for being extremely difficult to break down. His defensive organisation and aggressive pressing could prove to be ideal for Fulham. They are a mid-table team and need a strong defensive structure to compete at the highest level.

Ferreira likes to operate in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and Fulham certainly have the players for that. Just like Marco Silva, Ferreira values organisation and structure, and he could be the ideal replacement for the ex-Fulham boss.

Silva built Fulham into a team harder to beat, and Ferreira would do just that. He tends to add a sense of defensive security to his teams, and there is no doubt that he has the quality to succeed at the London club. Fulham have established themselves as a solid mid-table team, and Ferreira could help them push towards the top eight with the right backing. Ferreira was linked with Chelsea a few years ago.

Hugo Oliveira might be the better fit

Meanwhile, Oliveira has done quite well in his short managerial career and is regarded as one of the finest emerging coaches from Portugal. He has spent years working with Marco Silva and was highly regarded within Silva’s coaching staff.

Oliveira already knows Fulham’s recruitment model and culture, and he might be able to settle in quickly at the London club. He could be a better fit for the West London club compared to Ferreira. Given the fact that he worked with Silva for a long time, he possesses the same tactical discipline and positional structure as the former Fulham manager.

There is no doubt that both managers would be exciting acquisitions for the London club, and it remains to be seen who they end up with. However, they have also shown interest in other managers, including Ruben Amorim.
