Crystal Palace rival Chelsea in Liam Rosenior chase amid Oliver Glasner uncertainty

Crystal Palace are in the mix alongside Chelsea for Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, as Oliver Glasner’s future is called into question.

According to Team Talk, Liam Rosenior continued to attract massive interest from the Premier League owing to his good work at Strasbourg. Crystal Palace are the latest to enter the chase, and it appears they could rival Chelsea for the Frenchman as Oliver Glasner’s future remains unclear at Selhurst Park.

Oliver Glasner became the first Crystal Palace boss to achieve a major trophy at the club by guiding the team to FA Cup glory last season. Even before that, the club have been engaging in contract talks with the Austrian, who has had his disagreement with the club’s board in the recent past.

Glasner is nowhere close to agreeing on a fresh deal, and given his current contract expires at the end of the season, there’s a real danger he could walk away. Palace are aware of the possibility, as they have already begun exploring options in the market, with Getafe boss Jose Bordalas among those being looked at.

Now, Strasbourg’s Liam Rosenior is the latest name to be linked with Palace, as the FA Cup holders could rival Chelsea for the 41-year-old Ligue 1 manager’s signature. The Frenchman has garnered rave reviews for his work with the BlueCo-owned club, as he could soon have enough offers to consider a switch to the Premier League.

Palace will certainly hope to renew Glasner’s contract at the club, but should things not move along in the right direction with the Austrian’s future, a new man could be at the helm next season. However, they face the huge prospect of convincing the likes of Rosenior amid Chelsea’s big interest in the 41-year-old Ligue 1 manager.

Chelsea the favourites for Liam Rosenior?

Chelsea have already considered Rosenior as a potential replacement for Manchester City-linked Enzo Maresca. The Italian is under no real threat of getting fired from his job, but there’s a distinct possibility he might join the City Group project should Pep Guardiola call time on his Etihad career.

With Chelsea and Strasbourg being owned by BlueCo, the Blues might be seen as the favourites to bring Rosenior to Stamford Bridge. However, he’s not the only manager the Londoners have in mind, as the likes of Filipe Luis are also being considered, while there are possibly others on their long list.
