Chelsea reportedly have their eyes set on RC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior to replace Enzo Maresca amidst his links with Manchester City.
Enzo Maresca’s future has become a big talking point. While the Italian still has quite a few years left on his deal at the London club, he has been linked with a move away from the club. Amidst growing uncertainty over his future, Chelsea have started looking for potential replacements, with Liam Rosenior a target.
According to a report from Caught Offside, the Blues have their eyes on Rosenior, who has been doing wonders at their sister club RC Strasbourg. The BlueCo ownership group is quite confident about the 41-year-old being the right man for the job, as they have watched him in action from close quarters.
After an impressive spell at Hull City, Rosenior took charge of the Ligue 1 club in the summer of 2024. So far, he has led them in 61 matches, and his team averages 1.74 points per game. In the ongoing campaign, they have won 13 out of their 24 games.
The 41-year-old manager has done a great job for them, and he has managed to impress the BlueCo ownership, who are currently looking for someone who could potentially replace Maresca. The Italian manager took charge of Chelsea in the summer of 2024.
In his first season in charge, he led them to the Conference League and Club World Cup titles. His charges have carried that form into the new season as well. However, there is a lot of uncertainty around his future, as he has been constantly linked with a return to Manchester City.
Chelsea are planning for life without Maresca
Pep Guardiola’s former assistant at Manchester City is considered a priority target to replace the Spanish manager next summer. With Maresca switching agents and signing up with Jorge Mendes, Chelsea are seriously worried about his long-term future.
While they publicly continue to back Maresca, the West London club have started making plans to replace him. Rosenior is seen as an ideal candidate to take over the role. Given the kind of success he has had with the Ligue 1 club, the Blues are optimistic about him being the right man to lead them.
They consider him a natural heir as he is well aware of how the ownership likes to function, what their long-term plans are and how they tend to go about in the transfer market.
