Leeds United may turn to 60-year-old Australian tactician Ange Postecoglou if they part ways with Daniel Farke in the coming weeks.
According to a report by talkSPORT, Ange Postecoglou is the subject of interest of Leeds United. The Whites are scouring the managerial market for possible options to replace Daniel Farke as the pressure mounts on the German tactician. So, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager has emerged as a target for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Ange Postecoglou and his career so far
Ange Postecoglou has endured a topsy-turvy ride since entering the managerial sphere. Born in Athens, he represented Australia in international football and spent his professional career in his country. He called time on his playing days in 1995 before becoming a coach.
The 60-year-old spent most of his managerial career thus far in Australia, coaching half a dozen clubs while also managing the national team at several age-group levels. However, Postecoglou rose in prominence during his spell with Celtic before moving to the Premier League in 2023 by joining Tottenham Hotspur.
The Australian tactician ended Tottenham’s trophy drought earlier this year, with the North London club winning the UEFA Europa League. However, Postecoglou’s stint with Tottenham ended after the 2024/25 season, and his stint with Nottingham Forest was also disastrous. However, his stock remains high, with Leeds United considering a move.
Premier League return on the horizon?
Leeds United’s interest in Ange Postecoglou is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a new manager amid a disastrous run of results in the last few weeks. Three successive defeats in the Premier League have dropped Leeds United into the relegation zone, and the pressure is rising on Daniel Farke.
While the German tactician is not at an immediate risk of being sacked, he may lose his job by Christmas if the results do not improve. Several candidates have thus emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Postecoglou also a viable target.
Recent reports have also linked Leeds United with Brendan Rodgers, with the former Liverpool manager keen on returning to the Premier League after leaving Celtic last month. So, with more options emerging on the West Yorkshire club’s wishlist, it will be interesting to see if Farke remains at Elland Road for the foreseeable future.
